In 1992, the Westmont, Il.-based Laurel Motors BMW hired Wight & Company under a traditional design-bid-build project delivery system to design their new showroom. Laurel Motors experienced a great deal of difficulty with the project’s general contractor regarding schedule and budget, and came to rely on Wight & Company for communication, decision-making, and assertiveness with subcontractors. As a result, when the client decided to transform the existing showroom into a cohesive full-service dealership just two years later, they hired Wight & Company as the design-builder for the 5,200-square-foot expansion. The Laurel BMW expansion project helped launch Wight’s growth into a fully integrated firm with design, build, and construction services. Today, as one of the few fully integrated firms in the nation, Wight & Company’s construction professionals work closely with designers and engineers and have executed over $1 billion in design-build work over the past 10 years.
