Throughout his formative years, Mark Wight was exposed to the family business, often sweeping floors or taking out the garbage. After earning a law degree from Notre Dame and opening his own practice on the West Coast, Mark’s father asked him to return to Chicago to help run the family business. In 1986, Mark formally joined Wight & Company as Executive Vice President and took full responsibility as Chairman and CEO shortly thereafter. Like his father and grandfather before him, Mark possesses an entrepreneurial spirit that has allowed the firm to expand its many services, markets and geographical reach. Mark is constantly anticipating the next direction of the industry, and is a driving factor in the company’s success. He spearheaded efforts to offer design-build services to clients, providing better cost and schedule control for each project. He continues to build upon the engineering roots of his grandfather, and maintains the company’s base for infrastructure, transportation, civil, and building engineering.
